The seasoned packer

He tells me that he always travels light.
His belongings fit into one suitcase;
And everytime he decides to leave, he takes
One suitcase, and a one-way ticket.
*
Roots, I tell him.
That's why I need all my white china and 40 pairs of shoes;
They make me feel like I'm home.
And lately, his checked shirts and plastic cups have become part of the picture too.
*
Anger, really is counter-productive.
I used to think that I didn't get angry often enough,
And that letting things slip by made me a push-over.
These days I pick my little battles,
But often find myself too tired to fight.
*
It really is amazing what bystander observation can do for clarity.
When I chose advice as last resort,
I never thought it'd make our lives so devilishly happy.
